Living in the Digital Renaissance

We live in an incredible time. We literally have the world in the palm of our hands. Cell phone have made life so easy. Need directions to a new restaurant? Ask Siri. Can't remember the name of an actor in a particular movie? Ask Siri. Want to reconnect with your roommate from college? Social media has made that possible and incredibly simple.

While the threats we faced before the digital renaissance still lurk about, we (and our children and grandchildren) are forced to acknowledge new dangers.

While technology has allowed us to access the world, it has also allowed the world to access us. In order to keep our kids, grandkids, nieces, nephews, and friends safe we need to instill in them a sense of awareness.

Below, you will find a few important things to remember, and to pass on, while engaging online.

Please share - I have also posted this on our Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts for easy access.

"Predators and human traffickers can gain access to victims online because people are not always aware of how dangerous online environments can be or how to keep themselves safe. While the Internet is a great way to stay in touch with friends and family, predators oftentimes take advantage of this and actively stalk online meeting places such as chat rooms and social media sites to lure their victims." - Blue Campaign Online Safety
